    Default Climate Change

    Hi All.
This shows how a once great country is being shown up as stupid.

    World Wide Coal Plants...

Here's a small sample of how many coal plants there are in the world today:

The EU has 468 plants building 27 more for a total of 495

Turkey has 56 plants building 93 more total 149

South Africa has 79 building 24 more total 103

India has 589 building 446 more total 1036

Philippines has 19 building 60 more total 79

South Korea has 58 building 26 more total 84

Japan has 90 building 45 more total 135

AND CHINA has 2363 building 1171 total 3534

AUSTRALIA is planning to shut down their
remaining 6 plants and save the planet!!

The rest of the world are just laughing at our stupidity… and why not?

Des maybe China has cut back on its opium smoking Addicts so is allowed more coal mines. Nothing is ever mentioned about peat burning , so maybe the Irish and the chufters are keeping quite on that one. What’s going to happen with New Years rituals when you don’t have a piece of coal to take with you as someone’s firstfoot.? JS.

#4... when I left school in 1952, there were 4 main industries in the NE to choose from and all were booming. They were the coalmines, shipbuilding, Fishing, and seagoing, Less than 40 years later there was nothing. It couldn’t have disappeared so fast unless it was collectively organised. The rise and fall of the Roman Empire took a lot longer than the British one. Two world wars were apparently not enough to satisfy whatever you want to call those people who lead the country , it was given away piecemeal. It certainly refutes the old saying... To the Victor goes the spoils. Cheers JS..

Australian politicians love to use weather patterns as climate change. More politics in this than you could poke a stick at.
But if Queensland is now tropical, which it is, what is it to become if the climate changes?
Victoria is Temperate, what for us?

In Ireland they have been burning Peat for centuries, now it is made into peat brickettes and burns very hot and clean.

I saw one of the new generation coal fired power stations in Japan last year. Clean washed coal burned at a high temperature emits very little in the way of pollution.
By the time the emissions are put through a scrubber all that comes out of the top is hot air, bit like the Greens in Canberra.
One of the problems with coal for many years was the fact it was burned at a lower temperature, that causes it to produce more pollution.

As to Oz, how are we leading the way when we are but 1.5% of the global population?
    Happy daze John in Oz.

Reading those numbers another way Des it is only Turkey and the philipines that are a problem because if the other ones are replacing the coal fired ones with new ones would mean that they end up with a lot less would it not. From all the BS that gets shovelled around here it seems that it takes years to build a new power station so as said one could read those figures to mean a substansual reduction in power stations except for the two countries mentioned
That's the way the mop flops.

My thanks to Brian for this site.

You could well be correct there mate, but the fact is that even if they are replacement ones they will still be burning coal.

Lady here in town is married to the only westerner employed by Adani, richest man in India, and he will come hell or high water get his mine in Queensland up and running.
Labor may be opposed but as Shorten said, 'There could be well over 2,000 jobs there'.
