Vic, That just about explains it then another hand of Mother nature 1200 years 6 times, And these extreme fires in OZ, This is what the experts say.

    Climate change now
There is clear evidence to show that climate change is happening. Measurements show that the average temperature at the Earth’s surface has risen by about 1°C since the pre-industrial period. 17 of the 18 warmest years on record have occurred in the 21st century and each of the last 3 decades have been hotter than the previous one. This change in temperature hasn’t been the same everywhere; the increase has been greater over land than over the oceans and has been particularly fast in the Arctic.
The UK is already affected by rising temperatures. The most recent decade (2008-2017) has been on average 0.8 °C warmer than the 1961-1990 average. All ten of the warmest years in the UK have occurred since 1990 with the nine warmest occurring since 2002.
Although it is clear that the climate is warming in the long-term, note that temperatures aren’t expected to rise every single year. Natural fluctuations will still cause unusually cold years and seasons but these events will become less likely.
Along with warming at the Earth’s surface, many other changes in the climate are occurring:
    warming oceans
    melting polar ice and glaciers
    rising sea levels
    more extreme weather events
    Warming oceans
While the temperature rise at the Earth’s surface may get the most headlines, the temperature of the oceans has been increasing too. This warming has been measured all the way down to 2 km deep.
The chemistry of the oceans is also changing as they absorb approximately a third of the excess carbon dioxide being emitted into the atmosphere. This is causing the oceans to become acidic more rapidly than perhaps any point in the last 300 million years.
    Melting polar ice and glaciers
As the Arctic warms, sea ice is decreasing rapidly. In the Antarctic, sea ice has slowly increased, driven by local changes in wind patterns and freshening sea water. However, in recent years Antarctic sea ice has stopped growing. Over the past few decades the ice sheets (the great masses of land ice at the poles) in Greenland and the Antarctic have shrunk, as have most glaciers around the world.
    Rising sea levels
As land ice melts and the warming oceans expand, sea levels have risen. Global sea level has risen by around 20cm over the past century, likely faster than at any point in the last 2,000 years. The rate of sea level rise has increased substantially over the 20th Century and further rise this century is inevitable – how much depends on the amount of human greenhouse gas emissions.
    More extreme weather events
More damaging extreme weather events are being seen around the world. Heat waves have become more frequent and are lasting longer. The height of extreme sea levels caused by storms has increased. Warming is expected to cause more intense, heavy rainfall events. In North America and Europe, where long-term rainfall measurements exist, this change has already been observed. This is fact and evidence not speculation Regards Vic Terry.

    Terry, depends on your sources.
Arctic, is currently cooling due to cold water reaching the area. Apparently water in Atlantic operates on a twenty year hot / cold cycle.
Greenland some glaciers retracting others expanding.
Antarctic, eastern ice pack receeding, Western pack expanding.
Scientist have stated that the increase if any in sea levels have been exaggerated.
    Cheers
    Vic

Vic, I don't know whether you follow the T.V. Series Deadliest Catch, I have every series and episode on catch up T.V. A lot of these crab fisherman skippers and crews are third and fourth generation fishermen, The latest series have amazed these guys who fish the Bering sea, It appears the Crab are unexpectedly moving away from original fishing grounds further east to find colder waters to feed and spawn because as these skippers admit the waters around the Alaskan ice caps are getting warmer as a result of global warming and warmer waters. There is to much change to rule out the consequence of melting ice caps due to global warming the world over. If this planet carry on giving of these fossil fuel omissions' Things will only get worse and cause catastrophic consequence's for future generations. I am not in any way having a go at your theory I believe in hard facts not yesteryears and simply want my kids and 9 grandkids to enjoy the same life style that we have so I will keep banging the drum for my beliefs at the same time you carry on banging your own and lets hope the river Trent never overflows North enough to disrupt your world. We get 2 tides a day on the Mersey and I am to far west to ever be effected by rising seas but a lot of people are not as fortunate as us so lets agree to disagree and both await the next catastrophe of global warming not if but when Regards Terry.

Most of what Terry has written is available, the media will show it all at times.
But the media then put their spin on it.
There is no consecus of opinion amongst the scientific fraternity, some agree, some do not.

But the booklet I read regarding the so called 'Climate Change' was positive in a couple of facts.

One is the sun, it waxes and wanes in a similar manner to the moon, depending on the point in it's cycle will depend on it's effect on the planet.

Figures used to measure temperatures etc are now very accurate, but thye are compared with those of many years past when there were not so accurate.

Man does have some effect on it, but not to the extent that many claim.

Like Kong, we travel the world regularly and have seen for ourselves some of the regions supposedly effected and from what we have seen it is no where near what is claimed.
Norway back in June was a classic example of the propaganda put out about this.
We are being dumbed down and suffering from the effects of social engineering brought about by those who wish to impose their ideas on us.

On the net today, 'Coal will be king for at least the next fifty years as emerging nations attempt to catch up with the developed ones'

Terry, you mentioned the bush fires here in Oz.
Bad yes, but we have had worse, Australia is a continent of droughts and flooding rains, but go to the real Oz, the bush and speak with the people there and they will tell you it has all happened before and will again.
Remember before the white man came here the Aboriginal would set fire to the bush to clear land and to propogate new life, many of our plants need the fire to regenerate and once alight with them they just had to burn until it burned out.

Terry, the problem is that there is so much difference in opinions (no hard facts).
I have read the following over the past few months.
1 The Earth is currently tilting closer to the sun, but this effect has not been taken into consideration by the scientists.
2 The Earth's magnetic field is weakening and changing, magnetic north is somewhere in Siberia. Again, no one knows what effect this has on the earths climate.
3 British scientists have discovered that the Atlantic currents do effect the Arctic, but this had never been considered before.
4 An ESA satellite mapping the world has discovered that there are high temperatures miles down in the Antarctic ice, they the scientists believed that they expected the the temperatures to remain constant.
As you say Terry we may not agree, let's agree to disagree in a friendly spirit. Stay safe, stay dry.

discussion of views without rancour or hidden agenda is good, you guys could teach our politicians a few lessons!

    From the Guardian.com
The Neo Assyrian empire which ruled for three hundred years or so, collapsed suddenly.
Scientists believe climate change could have been the cause of the demise.

May be worth watching tonight BBC4 at 9pm : Scandal in 2009 about East Anglia University Climate Research Unit appeared to show that scientists were conspiring to exaggerate evidence of climate change. May be something or nothing, lets see

In 16 weeks I will be on the Big Island of Hawaii again.
I will be watching the huge Lava flows of Molten rock pouring none stop into the Pacific Ocean, The sea is just Boiling water, the hot water then travels north towards the Arctic This has been going on for many years none stop. even in the Antarctic Continent, I was swimming in the sea surrounded by ice, the sea was warm as it was the caldera of a volcano,
I have been travelling the world none stop since 1952, 68 years, three months this year all the way around. and there are many many places around the world where volcanoes are pouring out toxic gases and lava and Heat none stop since the world began,
Doubters should travel the world and see it for themselves.
The Climate change people should go and Plug all the volcanoes, maybe that would stop it , for a while
    Brian
