If water can get out no flood.
All the little coastal ports have closed and no more dredging.
I am in Fleetwood, the port closed by Europe a few years ago, so the dredging stopped.Sand bars have now appeared across the River Wyre I can see them growing daily. The River Wyre is silting up.very plain to see. up river the village of St Michaels was flooded for the first time. The rain from the hills of Cumbria flow down the river but cannot get out into the sea fast enough so it overflows the banks.
The sam has happened in Derbyshire today , no one dredges, I am amazed at the lack of intelligence in Councils, Not one has suggested dredging.
Lower the river bed by five feet and the river surface level will go down five feet, and will not overflow the banks.
Simple.
BUT Dredging costs money and they will let the floods come so the people have to pay with their destroyed homes.
