Re: Road Trip
Lewis, welcome back.
Obviously you had a good time and enjoyed the people and places you met.
Pricing there does look very cheap as with most countries prices area reflection of wages which I would have thought to be high in Germany.
But maybe they are using EU subsidies to keep prices down!!!!!
Happy daze John in Oz.

Re: Road Trip
As Germany is the largest contributor to the EU budget doubt if they are using subsidies, think it is likely they have a better idea on how to run a country than some of the other members. But anyway thanks for the welcome back weather apart it was a great trip but had a bit of a numb bum by the end of it covered, nearly 3500kms or nearly 2200 miles in 10 days.

Re: Road Trip
Very interesting Lew.
My wife and I are off in late July into August for a couple of weeks with dear friends in Saxony, Germany and then with distant cousins of my wife in Krakow, Poland. We have visited both families many times (and they us here in South Carolina) and we've had fantastic times. I speak fairly good German, though Hoch Deutsch or high German and Saxony has its own dialect, which to me is unintelligible. Kind of like someone learning old time BBC announcer English and being dropped into Glasgow or Pettycoat Lane, London. The awful thing is they can understand me (thanks to T.V. and radio) but I can't understand them. Still, our friends speak almost fluent English. German is handy in Poland and those that do, learn Hoch Deutsch.
The Tatra mountain area of Poland is lovely and I would think it's worth a look into, as to a motorbike tour, that is if you haven't already
been there.

Re: Road Trip
I was hoping to up load some of the photos I took but will need to play around with the file size as all my pics are on my mobile phone. For some reason I always have a battle with Samsung and Lenovo, they just do not like talking to each other. Here hopefully is a link to youtube.com, not really a very interesting video lost somewhere in Switzerland on a damp and miserable day. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Set-JDo2HDQ.
