My discharge book tells me that it occurred during a three-week break between ships and so, therefore, I cannot lay claim, as others might, that, for me, this milestone in life was an unforgettable experience spent in some exotic corner of the world, locked in the firm embrace of a Gina Lollobrigida look-alike with a nymphomaniac disposition, overcome by her sweet-scented breath as into my starboard ear she whispered mind-boggling suggestions for ways to further enhance the wonderment of our copulation (I should be so lucky). However, mindful of the unfettered social lifestyle I adopted at that time in my life, I can only assume that the significance of the day was swallowed up in the alcoholic haze of my existence, as with like-minded seamen I spent my leave trolling the pubs, clubs and gin-joints of London's east-end.

    Sad, ain't it ?

Roger, whether ashore or at sea I am pleased to see that you kept alive the concept of a full blooded real male Mercahant Seaman of the era. But then I would expect noth less then the very best of intentions from you.

Cant remember if answered this one before. Celebrated in Ma Carrols.. Belfast. Remember staggering out with some shore persons bottles of booze and his girlfriend. If remember correctly didnt go back to ship that night. John Sabourn

    Default 21st.....best bits

Funny isn't it but most of these runs ashore, whether it was a 21st, just a good night ashore or some other major celebration, it is nearly always the best bits that you can't remember!!!!!
