This story happened in 1943 this camp i have mention before and it was not to bad bar for the Japs and Koreans ..Well they was a few cats and dogs around the place but after awhile they got fewer in number but there was one dog that some of our guys took a liking to kept it as a pet but one day a couple of Koreans got hold of it that was the last we saw of it .It was killed and most probably eaten by them as we was told that they did eat dogs
Remember waking up one morning with a young lady in Kingston.
She fed me a nice curry breakfast.
Later informed me that the meat was dog.
Couldn't pass a lamp post for ages! [Last bit is a joke ha ha ]

But i can honestly say one of the best foreign cuisine's i ever came across was on a Palm Boat down the West African coast the kroo boys would make there version of pepper soup in the focsl,e i just had to taste it .Cat fish heads included, Rice, Peas, Yam, Onion, And whatever else they could get there hands on would be boiled and fried like a fried rice dish it was beutiful. {Also kept the thunder box busy very busy :D :D Regards Terry.
Think that I might have some of that last night. Got the same results though if I did not. Just wish I could remember but then I might be better of not knowing.
rabbit and pidgeon pie. During and after the war, my father used to go hunting (shooting) for them, sometimes using a ferret.
can still remember at the table picking the lead shot out of my mouth, which had'nt been caught when dressing before cooking. so much now being concerned with lead poisening. between the shot and lead soldiers, it's a wonder i did'nt die years ago.
Then there was always the occasion when you would get tongue pie and cold shoulder for tea.

Most Sunday afternoons we get the Bikers coming into our little riverside town and briefly shattering the peace of the swans and duck feeders for an hour or two. Still, it brings in a little business for the cafes,and they're well-behaved,which is not surprising as most of them are middle-aged teenagers !

Terry, that brings back the memories. I sailed with Palm Line for a few years and we used to get the Chief Steward to put pepper soup on the menu. It was brilliant. Trips to the thunder box next morning were also something to remember!!! I have tried on a number of occasions over the years to reproduce "WA pepper soup" but just can't get the taste....................or the effect!!!! Thanks for thatQuote:
