    Hi All.
Well I guess that I could say all my trips were great ones, most are stand outs. But one ship that i always remember is the little Leadsman, we went around the coast it was like being on daddy's yacht.
Going too all those tiny little ports discharging petrol. up the small rivers like the one to Wisbech, or up the Clyde, calling into Stockton, Hull, Grimsby, Yarmouth, Poole, I've forgotten most of the ports we visited. But what made it special was it was a kind of farewell trip around the UK as I was waiting to emigrate to NZ and it was my last UK ship.
    Cheers Des

Who could argue with Terry or Ivan I for one loved South America both east and west coast , as long as you wernt trying to save any money that is but then we are not all the same I was A.B. back in 1965 in the St Essylt it was her last voyage in fact it was the last voyage of the South American St line we joined her in Tilbury I dont know how I got the job being as I was out of KG5 pool but for some reason Tilbury pool could not find a full crew for her , anyhow we did all those great ports that we all knew in Brazil and Argentina there was one A.B. in her that only ever went ashore to secure the gangway or other than that to paint the ship,s side he never once went outside the dock gates untill we paid off in South Sheilds and in that time we had 4 full days in Santos over the easter holiday with no work and he stayed aboard all that time he was only a young fella just goes to show we are not all the same , in fact when we got back to South Shields we paid off in the late afternoon so the company let us stay aboard untill the next day as we would have arrived in London to late to get our onward connections home , anyhow this fella went ashore with his pay off and did all his money at the bookies I went home with more than him as I say we are all different but give me 4 days in Santos anytime against an a few hours in a bookies best regards to all hands Dave

My last trip was far from the best but being woken up by a large part of the Irish Sea trying to wash me off of my bunk and the "last trip" party bottles washing around the deck made me think it was a good idea to leave, how mistaken can you be?
