No Texas bar Capt.
Now that has really burst my bubble.

Sorry Den,
They have all gone, I went around South America two years ago, No sailor bars, All gone.
The only Bar I found was the California Bar in Montevideo, Closed and up for sale , Se Vende. No MORE SAILORS
Only in Valparaiso I found the infamous Scandinavian Bar. That was open. the whole of South America was shut. and gone. Seamen are not in port anymore, in and out in ten hours, No Brits.
Hi Lou, here are a couple of photos of the Duchess of Bedford, last one probaly when you were on it. looks as tho` she is disembarking troops.
Cheers
Brian

Hi John S
Thats a very interesting part of your life mate, and its a shame that you gave it up (The Book i mean) well the Sea too!
If i were in your shoes,i would seriously rethink of writing all your memories,as i can see by this extract that you certainly have the ability and the experience at Sea to get a good Book going!
I have saved that piece you posted,as i do most other good Yarns,it is something that i like to look at ,at times when i am alone and at peace with the World! Nice Quiet times!
I sort of put some of the Yarns together at times, and its amazing what one experiences by reading a few different Stories from various people!
Thanks for this,i think its great!
Cheers
Is there more to come ??? I hope so!
Excellent story John. I was there, with you. Got a hangover just reading it. I did a few Shell tankers in the 50s, so it brought it all back. Good Memories.
Start the book again. those days have gone forever and will never come back. We were the last of the Seafarers so we have to write our stories for history.
Hey Kong. You have all the respect from your peers on here not to worry about what some 'NOBODY' say's or tries to infer. I enjoy your tales and as an ex Vindi boy plus my 1st trip on a tramp had similar experiences, but you were at sea so much longer than I, and therefore have more to tell. You keep posting mate and I and a load more blokes on here will stand along side you. Sure we are human and can disagree but all men have a right to their say and to practice their beliefs provided those beliefs do not breed hate or envy against others. Hope I can get to the 'Vindi' this year mate as I'll enjoy a pint of real ale provided it's a nice light dry bitter.:p;):D
Post 87# I presume this post refers to me.I object to being called a NOBODY by some yokel from Somerset that spent his time plodding the streets as a posrman.!!!!
Regards.
Jim.

Now Lads its all over, no problems, please dont let us have anymore insults, we can do better at our ages.
I am all for a good time and a laugh.
We havent got too long to go now before we get the big pay off. I now know more dead mates than live ones. nearly all gone. Lets make the most of the time we have left.
PS
If Jim goes to the Vindi Reunion and anyone else, there will be a barrel of ar` kids real ale there.
Cheers
Brian.
