    Default SS Stanford

I had a very nasty experience on my first trip..inthe very dark I (John Fulcher) walked off the edge of the dock ..we, myself and three otherboys, were going out for a drink.....I'm very lucky to be here because I could not swim then ...one of the boys from London pulled me out.
I cannot remember his name [ he was a deck boy ] I have tried in the past to think of it but my mind is a blank is there any chance of finding him....our ship was the SS Stanford out of Avonmouth Bristol, in the beginning of January 1946, it belonged to the Stanhope SteamShipping Company Liverpool .........any chance ????.

    John Fulcher.

The official No for the “Stanford “is 168065 the crew agreement for 1946 should
be in the TNA Kew in piece BT 381/3974, you would need to ask for the first Crew Agreement as it was early in January 1946, these are best viewed by visiting Kew as they can work out expensive

I certainly agree with that ,Tony.
The STANFORD in question was an older wartime design, built 1941.
I've looked for a photo of her,but maybe our member Tony Wilding, who has a vast collection can produce one?.....

    Correction.

hello to all, regarding SS Stanford,, it is the older ship, built just befor the Empire Names started i think, so not in my collection, built for Stanhope Shipping co. later sold to Scindia Nav co. became SS Jalamohan.
