    Default Desert Island Discs

Do you have three songs or pieces of music which bring back memories of events in your life ?
Could be happy or sad times , places you have been , people you have met , weddings , births , anything which is special to you.

    My top three;

Smoke gets in your eyes. The Platters.

    Band of gold. Freda Payne.

You'll never walk alone. Gerry Marsden.

In my life - The Beatles
    Waterloo Sunset - The Kinks
Giving it all away - Leo Sayer

For tomorrow my choice would be Eartha Kitt singing those were the days my friend I thought they’d never end. JS

I was in Providence, Rhode Island in 1956 when I first heard Elvis singing this favourite of mine.

Anything sung by Elvis with the exception of Wooden Heart, a song I can not stand at any price.

Good thread Louis, evokes some god memories from long ago,
Haere Mai, Auckland 55 Maori welcome song played on tannoy when NZ ferries MAORI & HINAMOA berthed and Now is the hour was played when they sailed, it
sounded lovely drifting across the harbour, " Great port, great memories"
Bill Haley's Rock around the clock, daft as it may sound now but, Jiving in the aisle of an Auckland cinema in 55/56 is memorable, the film was Blackboard Jungle.
Stevie Wonder's,I just called to say I love you, reason,"Personal" , cheers John Collier

There are so many that over the years I have taken a liking to.
Any thing by Elvis or the Beatles.

Sunday morning coming down Johnny Cash
Runaway, reminds me of my first voyage
Travelling man, reminds me of me
    Hotel California, Eagles
Waterloo Sunset, Kinks, reminds me of when I first met my wife. The song was all the rage

Bohemian Rhapsody, Queen, so very different when it first came out in October 1975

Listening to the music stations will always bring back a memory or two.

    Jo'burg talking Blues, Jeremy Taylor
    Happy daze John in Oz.

Life is too short to blend in.
