    Default Ivanovic

Anyone out there who sailed with Ivanovic? Their ships were all something "wick" or something "crest". I was lecky on the Southwick in early 1962 and was earmarked to join the Skycrest in the builders yard in France (Toulouse or Toulon, I can't remember) They were non pool jobs registered in Nassau N.P.

    Default Ivanovic

Ivanovic office was in Fenchurch Street in London, almost directly opposite the entrance to Fenchurch St. station. The crews were mostly British deck and engineer officers, Spanish deck crew and Jugoslav catering staff. On the Southwick the chief eng. was Hungarian, cook was Egyptian and we had an Aussie greaser. A real mixed bag!

    Thumbs up Ivanovic

I have just googled the name Ivanovic and wikpedia have o lot of info. on him. He was quite a character, among other things he was an olympic athlete representing Jugoslavia at the 1936 olympics in two track events for which he held the Jugoslav records for a number of years. Interesting bit of history if anyone cares to read it.

    Default Ivanovic

Indeed a remarkable man,Salvina. Interesting to read that Wikipedia article(I've added the link(Below).
Particularly noteworthy that the family made available to the Allies most of their fleet during both World Wars.

    Cheers!

    Thumbs up Ivanovic

The only person I have come across (apart from me) who has sailed with Ivanovic is the venerable Stan Mayes on Ships Nostalgia. Read his account on his time with them.
