    Hi my name is nick i served on the hemisinus in 1972for 5 months as a sixteen year old catering boy between the night life in singapore and the night security watch in nam i grew up very quickly but it was the aventure of a lifetime for a young boy from burntisland in scotland that had never beeb anywhere also the double pay of £72.00 a month helped me enjoy the nightlife in singapore

    Default Tar Boat

    Hi Trevor,
    Your comment about the 'dreaded tar boat' has me puzzled,I was under the impression they were good jobs, running up the Yankee coast,cost of living allowance etc..

    Hi Brian, I was a EDH from October 1970 until April 1971, I do remember going to Brunei also, I seem to remember one hell of a night in Saigon where we on the deck had a huge party including locals.

    I live in Australia now and have done for 40 years, retiring next year,.

    I also remember that party. 3 army trucks brought the dinks and girls.

    I was on board for 9 months, working in the galley.We had a few trips to Sarawak during my time. do you remember the time a submarine circle us as we approached Vietnam?.
