    Default Nacella

    Looking for any information of the vessel Nacella .My father serverd as a radio office on her nov 1943.Any help would be apreciated

    Convoy JW.63 (30th December 1944).

    The convoy departed from Loch Ewe on the 30th of December 1944 and arrived in Kola Inlet on the 8th of January 1945. 2 vessels were lost during this convoy.

    The convoy was made up of the following merchant ships, RFA Blue Ranger, Adolph S. Ochs, Alanson B. Houghton, Benjamin H. Hill, Bernard N. Baker, British Promise, Caesar Rodney, Charles M. Schweb, Charles Scribner, Crosby S. Noyes, Edmund Fanning, Empire Archer, Empire Celia, Francis C. Harrington, George H. Pendleton, Henry Bacon, Henry Villard, Henry Wynkoop, Horace Gray (sunk by U-711), Idefjord, J.D. Yeager, James Kerney, John A. Quitman, John Ireland, John La Frage, Jose Marti, Joseph N. Nicollet, Lacklan, Lebaron Russell Briggs, Nacella, Norfjell (sunk by U-968), Paul H. Harwood, Philip F. Thomas, R. Ney Mcneely, Samaritan, Silas Weir Mitchell, Thomas Scott, and Warren Delano.

    The escort ships were Algonquin, Allington Castle, Alnwick Castle, Bamborough Castle, Cygnet, Diadem, Keppel, Lapwing, Lark, Myngs, Savage, Scourge, Serapis, Sioux, Stord, Vindex, Walker, Westcott, Zambesi, and Zebra.

    Gerry Fitt served on the Tanker NACELLA official number 168444 built in 1943 for Anglo-Saxon Petroleum Co Ltd, London. It was broken up in Bo’ness on 7.3.1960. The ship was completed in June 1943 and by apparently went straight out on a Russian convoy.

    Narcella served in following Artic Convoys!
    Nacella 4 JW-59, JW-63, RA-60, RA-64

    Thanks ,The name here is John. My father served on here in 1943 left clyde Novemeber 14.convoy on 211.arived NYC Nov 29 1943.He would have been 1 st radio officer

    Hello John, my father was a radio officer on Nacella between 1943 and 1949. I have obtained his Seaman's Pouch from National Archives. I would be pleased to swap information with you as it seems we have a common link. Iain
