Hello Archie,
I too was on the Dominiom Monarch from May till August 1959. Beautiful ship, fantastic run, (met my long lost relatives in Christ Church when we docked in Lyttleton) BUT, no overtime, lousy feeder, too much bull-sxxx and too many men? who sit down to have a P. I asked the bosun did he go to his parents wedding--I got a 'good' for conduct for that , and funnily enough I wasn't invited back for another trip!!! And I got to see the 'astral borealis' crossing from Wellington to Cape Town. And that's about it really. ho hum.
Nice to meet you
Colin.

Re: Dominion Monarch
Hi All,
Just wanting to know if anyone knew my Dad John (Jack) Jopson who sailed on the Dominion Monarch in 1946 he was crew when they took the 28th Maori Battalion back to Wellington New Zealand. He passed away 22 June 2016.. He has often spoken of his time on the ship..
Regards Peter Jopson
