Bill I was deck boy on Zealandic in 67 we went to the west coast of the states with a full cargo of Whisky, was you on then??

Hi Bob. I had just joined her in London to relieve you lads who were on the West Coast trip. Those that signed on again were still talking about that trip.
From memory not that great, the bosun was Dick Roach the carpenter was John Campbell Eng. Rm. Storekeeper Angus McKenzie.

Bill It was a trip to remember a lot of drink flowing we had at least 50-60 cases in the accommodation. and deck crew mostly from Shetland, and greasers were mostly Glaswegians Believe the Bosuns name was brown (john)? he had a certificate to say he was sane , apparently he had been in a place for the mentally ill. The lamptrimmer was a Kenny Shaw. And the carpenter was a Scot with a scar over his right eye. Nice ship though Bill take care .

Hi Bob. The next trip was a cracker. The Suez Canal was still closed so Aussie & N.Z. round South Africa. Las Palmas for bunkers, diesel oil purifier blow-up so had to put into Cape Town to pick up replacement. E.R. staff not allowed ashore for ethnic reasons. Fremantle, Sydney & Brisbane then Nelson & Napier across the Pacific, through the Panama Canal, bunkers at Curacao and back to London. My one and only voyage around the world. Have a photo taken in Sydney of the "Zealandic." Happy days Bob.

Sounds like you enjoyed that trip Bill ,they must have had a clean sweep in the engine room by the sounds of it .to many drunkards on the west coast trip ,to see you done the one trip A.T. World Bill I was on the run a while and did it 6-7 times on different ships out of KGV ,anyway Take ae Bill.
