I remember from about 1968 to 1970 when I was on the Star, the guy running the crown and anchor was a biggish guy that worked in the galley. Joined the Star direct from peanut school in Gravesend at the tender age of 16, happy days. Oh, by the way, there were no stewardesses in those days. All the best, Ian.

Hi Helen, I only did stand by in Southhampton in 1969 after trips on Suevic , Corinthic and Aranda. however I am trying to locate Mike Saunders aka Shifty who had sailed on the Star as Chief Electrical Officer. Any idea as to what happened to him???

Hello, this is Dave,
I was as in the infirmary and woke up to a silent ship. If I remember correctly some of the crew bared the hairy bottoms to the passengers. I remember coming up on deck and seeing the majority of the crew members on the dock, with the Union Convener talking to to the officials. i live in the United states now and that incident is rather a blur?
Hi Graham. Of course I remember you. How could I forget!
Enjoyed the Star. Good times.
Did you keep your Hoover when you left?

I joined the northern star in 73 also not too long after i sailed on her from Singapore to aukland as a passenger i often think of my time on board. I was a steward. I dont remember too many names but i do remember pat deer he was the chief steward i think. Would love to know what happened to him. Lots of drunken times in the pig and whistle was cheap and great nights there.
