Hi all I was with Shaw Swiv at the time early sixties, I did coastals on the Megantic about that time and also the Cretic. I went deep sea on the Alaric, Canopic and then 3 great years on the Waiwera.

I sailed the Megantic from Immingham to Vancouver and back in early 1964. She was a Gas turbine and the turbines broke down constantly. It took us six weeks to get from vancouver to panama, sometimes down to as slow as 2 Knots.

Roger. It must be a different MEGANTIC. Shaw Savill's MV Megantic, twin screw, 7clyinder H&W B&W. Two little sewing machines, great ship to sail on.
