Re: Boulevard Nautical School
Ji John.
For all that I wouldn't have changed it, even for just the memories we have today. I can't imagine what someone who never sailed the seven seas have memories of, I can see what mine would have been, countless sheets of tinplate going through rollers LoL.

#111 In that case Des if hadn’t gone to sea then the other option would have been to join Workers Playtime, and accompany Wilfred Pickles and Mabel ,
She maybe could have taught you to play the piano and give out the cash when Wilfred got round to it.? You could have been a celebrity.Cheers JS
Give him the money Des !!.

Re: Boulevard Nautical School
One of my cousins used to make Christal sets , you know with cats whiskers during the war. We even made gunpowder with articles bought from the chemist , saltpetre , sulphur, and charcoal which used to make oneself. If you couldn’t afford toilet rolls used to,knock on someone’s door and ask if could have the cardboard left when the roll finished., Used to pack this with the ingredients ,block the ends insert a piece of string for a fuse and heyho, had a homemade banger., JS drop it behind someone with constipation it used to work wonders JS

Re: Boulevard Nautical School, Hull
At risk of repeating myself, quite common nowadays I find, I was at The Boulevard in 1957, I believe. ( It was all a bit of an alcoholic haze ) I was supposedly studying for 2nd Mate,s. Managed to get my orals but failed miserably at writtens, as I did with the receptionist at The Merchant Navy Club. Eventually ran out of money and had to go back to sea, but succeeded later at Nellists in Newcastle, met my future wife, and the rest is history!

Re: Boulevard Nautical School
Hi John S
I still can't believe it, I passed my eyesight test and got my license for anther year, A new guy has taken over the optometry shop, up from Melbourne and I suppose wants customers, but a nice you bloke from somewhere I think around the Tashkent area but one of the best I have encountered in all my time with eye problems.
Saw the DR he failed me but it was an attempt by me to see if he would pass me, no deal, funny thing is he was at the same optometrist when I was there LoL I can't drive at night, but I don't anyway.
I had my 93 birthday do with the wife and kids, up the R.S.L Club the same day, birthday is on Sunday20th.
Gave the kids? the boy is 64 the girl is 62 $50 to play the pokies, would you believe they won $500, a lucky day all round
