Did Mates certificate in 1959. Had Danton, Kemp, Young and Grant, all publishers of nautical tomes as instructors. Our class at Seamanship helped him write his seamanship book. Later had him again at Plymouth when I did masters.

He also used to present the weather on tv down in Plymouth. Had quite an opinion of himself. Graham Danton I'm referring to.

Yes, I went there for my 1st Mates Certificate studies in October/November 1962. It was at the time of the Cuban missile crisis and some of the Students held a meeting to "discuss' (!!!) the crisis. That's all I really remember about the place. Having passed my 1st Mates Certificate I went back to sea as 2nd Mate on Jamaica Planter for 3 trips.
