    NSTS Gravesend - left Dec 1966
    Was Seaman, now

    Default I remember the moray seaschool

    i SAILED IN AND OUT OF bURGHEAD ON THE Freswick in the early sixties as edh and still remember the sea school lads up ending there KayaKS in the Harbour,anStand also the Spewy Lui Stan

    I can never resist looking up the history of a vessel that members have sailed in.....


    m.v. FRESWICK (O.N. 300614 ) was a 423 gross tons motor coaster ) completed 8/1951 by Unie,Groningen,Netherlands as BETTY for Dutch owners Aanemingsbedrijf Harm Fokkens,Naarden.
    1960 Sold to Enid Sg.Co,Leith ,Renamed FRESWICK
    1963 Sold to Marine Tpt.Services Ltd ,Cork,Rep.Ireland.Renamed WESTCOAST
    1968 Sold to V.Assenso,Gaeta,Italy.Renamed GIOVANNA ASSENSO.
    Fate: 21/10/1974 : Capsized after cargo shifted and sank S. of Sicily on a voyage from Barletta,Italy to Tripoli,Libya with cargo of tiles.

    Thanks for the information,Iknew she was Dutch built,as she had Tulip at the mast top,as you would know,we call it a truck.I was on her when she was sold to the Irish.They tried to get me to stay with them and be paid tax free.But I was seeing a girl from Burghead and was going nowhere.Never did get to Ireland.Skippers name at the time was Paddy Graham.
