I left the University of Vindicatrix on the 28th of the December 1962 my disharge book number is R779822 on the train going to london some bloke looked at my rather ill fitting Battle dress uniform and said (you just got outa Jail mate) it was a real cold winter that year. i joined the Otaki NZZ.S.co as a deckums. all the best Glenn
My late father George Battye of Swansea did his training here early in 1950 (I think he left school aged 15 and went straight to the Vindicatrix). Does anyone know how long the training lasted here and what everyday life was like? Sadly, questions like these could have been answered when he was alive...:(
Also, I'm unable to make contact with http://www.vindicatrix-hq.fsnet.co.uk admin page as the link fails to connect. Does anyone else have this problem or know an alternative contact address?
That link works OK. for me Deborah.
Is there anywere that has lists of boys and years of thier time at the Vindi.I was there in 1955.

Myself and John Griffin both from Bootle,Liverpool, completed are training at the Vindi.Reported to the Shipping Federation next morning,we were told to report to M.V.Tabor at Toxteth Dock at 7am this was in September 1955.We got the Bus to Seaforth, then got the Overhead Train to join the Ship, about 6-45am,we both had are Vindi Uniform on (catering),as we were going up the gangway the security man on the Gangway said I will tell the Chief Officer that you are here,he got the key off him and took us this big cabin and you have got study desk.Told us to put are gear away big ward-drobes.Anyway sitting there having agood laugh, there was knock on the cabin open it the Chief Officer and two lads in there best new suits shirt and tie.The C.O.said to us that you both are in the wrong cabin and Department. We had to put all are clothes back in are suitcase, not much.Told to report to the Chief Steward.Cabin Small and tin locker but we were very happy, always had a good laugh with the two cadets and Chief Officer for Three Trips, great blokes.Ken.R634898.
Thanks Charlie. I'll try again. I don't why the Vindicatrix site email contact failed to connect for me. I tried three times. My computer maybe.
