I was at Wallasey School from 18th Jan 1944 to 14th Feb 1944. Anyone there at the same time as me?

Wallasey Sea School when I went there was for lads who had reached leading seaman standard in the Sea Cadets. It was mainly deck and after a month's training you either came out as a JOS or a deck boy. They also produced a few cabin boys who, while training, were used to cook and serve our meals. You can imagine how enjoyable they were especially the horse meat stews.

I didn't have all that info. We had a very large deck crew because we worked our own cargo. We received 2/6 an hour on top of our wages for cargo work. I was a JOS on $18 pounds a month. This was a fortune after my shore job which paid one pound seven and six a week less my bus fare of ten bob

I have obtained the British seamans identity card of my late father Arthur Alan Turner born 15th Nov 1927 which states that he was discharged from the Wallasey Sea school on the 11/09/1944. I know that he was a sea cadet in Ashton under lyne lancs and that he spent some time in the merchant navy prior to joining the Sherwood Forresters regiment after the war and serving as a soldier in Palestine.
Can anyone tell me if he would have just been trained in basic seamanship prior to going to sea in a merchant vessel at this school? He has the Atlantic star and the Italy star on his medals from WW2 as well as the Palestine medal. I assumed from my research into these awards he would have gained these for 6 months + service in the merchant navy rather than his army service. I have a newspaper cutting about him which states that he had travelled to New York, Canada, North Africa, Italy and Holland, prior to enlisting in the army.
Can anyone help me who actually understands how Wallasey worked I cant seem to find the right kind of information anywhere.If your father was there does he know. i get the impression it was a short period prior to something else????
