Hi Lee. I was at Gravesend around 1970-71. I was in the catering department, I was nicknamed Jock as I was from Glasgow, we also had Arsenal, who supported. The team , we had Paddy and Taff, great bunch of guys.my discharge book was R902093. My name is Robert Reilly. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
Hi Fred, I wasn't far behind you November 1950
big culture shock for me, I'd had a pretty sheltered
life, I could never get over the open plan toilets, but
I persevered and spent 11 years at sea with loads of
great memories, the not so good I can forget about
My book was R542907 (never forget it). Now89 and
still going strong what a life I've had.
Was there I think at the same time. I remember always being hungry and the dentist massacring my mouth at the age of 16 from which it has never recovered. Lee I would be interested in seeing the classs photo and name list....just in case I am on it.....if not could you please tell me where such information is available. Thank you
Hi Joseph.
I think that the Gravesend mob had a web site, at least there was one a few years ago, try a google search as I can't remember their site name. There may be group pictures on it.
Cheers Des
Was there Jun 1975 to Sep 12, 1975, rowing on the Thames was hard and selling poppies in the town, got kicked up a bit by the local boys
adding photo to this, the instructor was tough, left and went with Buries Markes Shipping for 5 years, started in catering then went on deck
best 5 years of my life, be good lads
