Here is an old black and white film of , to me, the NEW sea training school Gravesend. I was at the old school 1957, never heard the expression *peanuts* at that time, but will bring back memories for those that were at this one, kt

Wonderful time in a wonderful place.
So much promise of a bright future for so many.
Sadly now all gone, no more training schools for British seamen as there is now hardly such a person around anymore.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

I was there in Oct to Nov 1956, I hated it, was glad when it was over, and I got my first ship.

    HI John.
I just got news that Robin Hurst the site Bosun for the Vindicatrix web site has crossed the bar. Robin along with Roy Derham was at the Vindi with me. He was one of the stalwarts in the Vindi Association and would do anything he could to help old mates, including personally visiting the archives to obtain peoples records. We have been in touch for over twenty years and he will be sadly missed.
