Slimming down of naval and RFA fleet
HMS bulwark and HMS Albion are going to be decommissioned along with HMS Northumberland being scrapped due to hull fractures and two RFA wave class tankers being scrapped.
New frigates are being built but it's years before they come into service. Part of the reasons for these moves is down to the inability to crew these ships, both naval and RFA.
One ex navy guy put forward the brilliant idea of stationing either bulwark or Albion mid channel to intercept migrants in small boats by getting them into there hulls through the stern doors and interviewing them as to whether they can be granted asylum. If the navy cannot manage them there must be many ex MN seafarers who would happily volunteer to man them even at below national maritime rates, so if it were to happen get in line behind me as I would be first in line to volunteer.

When you get that job on a Wave tanker give us a call I think I have my sea bag somewhere. The Wave Baron was one of my better trips.
