    Default Was £7 billion wasted.

We have two aircraft carriers supposed to be state of the art. I am confused, the RAF recently spent over 7 hours in the air on a bombing raid from Cyprus to Yemen and back to cyprus . They had two mid air refuelling during the operation.
Just wondering why are the carriers not in the Red sea.

There is a shortage of manpower in the RN. Two Frigates and two assault ships maybe laid up to free manpower for the carriers.

No reason given here why Aus never wanted to send a ship when America asked Aus to send a ship to the Red sea to help, but I suspect the same reason, none available, but they don't want the Chinese to find out, as if.
My wife brought up a good one, why if Britain no longer have a Merchant Navy are they bothered about the Red Sea, ditto Australia no MN, any goods can come via either around East Africa or through the Panama, and she is a land lubber.
I believe that the British PM took this action without consulting Parliament.

If they can't stop unarmed rubber boats what chance will they have against the Houtis ?.

Probably crew shortage and no available solid support ship as Fort Victoria which is also short of crew.

Des, you good lady is smart.
But if they go around the Cape prices will go up big time.

Our Navy here in Oz is far too busy chasing rubber boats to stop the illegals from landing here.

But the overall problem is no one joining the services now, shortage in all section of the armed forces and police.
Now the prison service is offering a $5000 bonus if you join up to become a prison guard.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

Just read the news that the Queen Elizabeth has been withdrawn from the NATO exercise as it has a dodgy prop shaft. Admiral Beatty once said 'something wrong with our bloody ships today'.

We seriously are a joke, give these ships to to Alang for the gas axe.
    A national embarassment.
Can you imagine if the Shipping federation(Pool) was still operating and those two ships were on the board I think those who actually wanted to sail the seas would be giving them a body swerve.

They should rename them HMS NEVER SHIFT and HMS NEVER SHIFT VERY FAR.

They should be taken to Germany, Japan or Korea given the keys and an RN phone number with an instruction, give us a ring when you get this lot sorted out as there is not a yard in the UK that can do the job.
    Bloody disgrace.
