Rear Admiral
Jut read online that the RN are advertising on linkden for the position of a Rear Admiral.
Apparently RN has a shortage of Rear Admirals.
Anyone fancy applying?

How far astern are you allowed to stay Vic ? Our mainmast sail has a hole in it, and good sailmakers cost a fortune these days . JS.

Re: Rear Admiral
I seem to recall an AB on the Capetown Castle who was known by that rank.

Re: Rear Admiral
Knew an AB real name was Nelson. Jumped ship in Cairns FNQ. We arrived back in uk 2 months later and bumped into him in the NE. He was picked up and must have been misbehaving as was shipped home DBS on a faster ship. Usually in those days if over 18 and kept your nose clean, a blind eye was turned. In this case Nelson wasn’t as fortuanate as his predessor. JS

Re: Rear Admiral
As the R.N.is looking to fill the position from outside, perhaps this is a sad indication that there is insufficient talent from within their own ranks? Surely there must be a Jolly Jack Matelot or two who would like to give it a shot?

Ah, Ah, Austin, Class man,ey still have the class system there, Though I will admit there was a slippery rugby half who slipped through somehow and married one of them so is allowed to rub the head of a little Prince.

Re: Rear Admiral
There was a Rear Admiral on UCL, went by the name of Rear Admiral Sir Slipadiktome.
The sir bit came about as he had been nighted so many times we were told.
Happy daze John in Oz.
