    Default Pussers Rum

July 31 st. We celebrate one of the longest and unbroken traditions in Seafaring History , known as Black tot day.
Prior to 1655 sailors were given daily rations of beer or Brandy ,but beer often went bad on long voyages , and Brandy fell out of fashion along with Britain’s relationship with France .
So to matelots July 31st 1970 was given the title of Black tot day. When such a well accepted tradition ceased to exist. JS

Tried to erase the second one because the first one didn’t appear to go. Then they both came up . Tried 4 times to erase one but like the pink elephant wouldn’t go away , hope you can do a better job. This often happens when I put a new post up , you would be a rich man if you charged for all the assistance you give. Especially from me. Cheers JS

#6.. Pussers Rum one of the most historic and traditional rums still available today. The rich flavour is all natural no artificial flavouring or colouring is added. I would say more but am not being paid to do so.

Had my first Tot on my 20th birthday inside the Arctic Circle off Iceland on the RFA Wave Ruler, the first Cod War in 1960 , we got a tot of neaters every day we refulled a RN Vessel and 10 Bob , I was the last to receive my tot being the youngest, I was given an overflowing measure, then got the “spillers” from all the rest of tots, I was expected to see it off in a oner , but it took me three goes, a day that will live in my memory for ever.

The days of waiting for the sum to go over the yard arm before drinking are long gone, no need as somewhere in the world it is always over the arm.

Way back in the days we had the pubs VAT man and Robin along with the Customs men would regularly visit.
They did like to check the quality of the spirits to ensure you did not add water to the bottle.

Every time they were confused with the 'Woods' Rum we had, it was over proof and very few pubs stocked it.
I had it for just two customers, one ex RN.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

Life is too short to blend in.
