Two very good rums but not for beginners I find the Pussers to be smoother than the Woods, and as we are talking about rum does the Doc have a discount for visitors to the site on a Wednesday have noticed the large number of members on site only on that day, if so Doc mine is a large Pussers which I will kindly donate to your good self thanking you for all the hard work you do keeping us all in order, Cheers. Den

Rum, never touched the stuff after being led astray by the deck crowd on the Beaverfir . I was 2nd trip cadet and arrival day in Vic docks, lunch time on the phone home to my mother, the deck crowd knocked on the phone booth wanting to know if I was going for a Saturday lunch drink with them. What followed was a 24 hour binge drinking beer and rum chasers, got back to the ship Sunday evening absolutely wrecked and with a mouth like a Chinese wrestlers jock strap and a head like Birkenhead. Never touched the stuff since, even the smell of Bacardi makes my stomach turn.
Winter trips on the Beaver boats we were issued with a bottle of rum each every crossing, courtesy of C.P. gave mine away every time.

Funny coincidence John, but my second trip apprentice, up the Campo in Curacao, bottle of rum , big bottle coke and a large bowl of ice + plastic cup very cheap, drank best part of it with a mate then bumped into a guy from N Shields who bought another, I tried to refuse but he threatened me with an empty bottle so I was forced to help drink it. Made it back in time for 12-4 but I was ill for days. Still like a rum and coke but afternoons only, night times the caffeine in the coke keeps me awake.

#14 can only remember being at that Campo once , so hope it wasn’t me you bumped into. We must have been there for bunkers as was a cargo ship was on. What amazed me was the cars driving up and dropping the female passengers off, and in the innocence of youth wondered why the drivers were dropping family off just to sit at tables and drink. Was a long and lengthy education at sea before the penny dropped. At least best to pretend innocence as like Ivan found it much cheaper and always an escape route. Me no Savvy must have been the favourite saying of many . JS

That bottles been like that since 1665 , and Horatio wet his lips on it before kissing Hardy. When it goes under the hammer all its secrets will be revealed . Plus like Hardy never wore socks like someone from the Eastern States , and at present wearing his wife’s tracky pants , JS
