Re: New Fleet Replenishment Ships
Paul, I have no wish to enter into a political arena, you have your view and nothing said or read is likely to change it. Wisely the political arena is a no-no on this site and whilst I may have contravened the rules with my #9 it was a generalistion on Govt of all hues on a subject dear to our hearts and not a pillory on an one individual or any one party. Re: New Fleet Replenishment Ships
Hi Ivan,
No worries mate, I understand and agree with you, and have possibly contravened this arena a tad too strongly. But I must add that the bete noire of many on this site, namely the EU, is continually raised, and is not condemned, least of all by me. But I apologise for personalising my argument.
Cheers, Paul.
Re: New Fleet Replenishment Ships
Paul you are excused, we all at times go over the line, not out intention some how it just happens.
But we must keep the right to free speech alive.
Re: New Fleet Replenishment Ships
Personally, reading all a few times, see nothing political,
more historical.

Re: New Fleet Replenishment Ships
Be good to see the new vessels built in the UK but how does the EU come into the previous order. Weren't the Tide class built in S Korea ?.
Re: New Fleet Replenishment Ships
Can you link your reference?
Re: New Fleet Replenishment Ships
Hi Danny,
If I may extrapolate Doug's comment, I believe he is referring to the Tidal Class tankers that were built in South Korea that were 'finished' in the UK; being 'completed' in the UK they became 'home' built, thereby not contravening EU directives. The fact that they were built in South Korea at a cost of 452m pounds was offset by being finished in British shipyards at a cost of 150m pounds; therefore they became British built!
Cheers, Paul.
Re: New Fleet Replenishment Ships
Just as an aside, didn't Argentina supply the Falklands need for fresh water before the war? I wonder how they manage now.

Re: New Fleet Replenishment Ships
Think they need to get a wiggle on with building those new ships if this is anything to go on.
