Since 1968 I have never drunk vodka. After a night out in the dives of Liverpool's upper parliament Street drinking massive amounts of cheap vodka with the Spanish crew, returning to the ship on the old repair berth at Tranmere oil terminal, imwas so pizzed that I walked head on into every shelter on the jetty. Woke up next morning with not only the hangover from hell but also a face that looked like I had done 5 rounds with Henry Cooper. Put me off vodka for life but not from over indulgence in beer and gin and tonic on many occasions.
