New warships announcement
Cammel Laird & Bae Systems have announced a partnership to design and build the next generation of warships.the first five 31e type frigates will be built by Cammel Laird.
Bae Systems will design the weapons systems.

Great news for Merseyside, and to think Wirral Council wanted to bulldoze Lairds a few years ago to build houses on the site.

the TYPE 31 light frigate is 1/5 th of the cost of TYPE 26 , buy 1 get 4 free that is £275,000,000 - £35,000,000 each , which was the cost of TYPE 26 at the design stage

Though on a different scale the latest Irish Naval ship is at
56% build completion at the Appledore Shipyard in North Devon.
