    Default Mystery

The Dutch MOD has announced that they are investigating the disappearance of two sunken Dutch Warships and have reported the disappearance of the R.N. Warships and a USN Submarine.
All vessels were sunk in the battle of the Java Sea in 1942.
The R.N. vessels are HMS Electra, Encounter and Easter, only indentations on the seabed remain.
A Dutch spokesman stated to raise the ships would have required a massage salvage operation.
The disappearance of the RN and USN ships have been reported to their respective Government departments.

At the time, the Battle of the Java Sea was the biggest naval battle since Jutland. I'm currently reading 'A World at Arms' by Weinberg (a massive book), and recently read - for the third time - 'Royal Australian Navy 1939-1942' by Gill, both of which contain descriptions, the latter quite detailed.
