JOHN india has just built its own aircraft carrier and yet we send millions to them. it may be to help with their space program or nuclear tests what do we have food banks opening every day even for working families? I think there is something wrong here don't you?jp

Hi shipmates, 19 ships for 260 Captains? do they have a watch on the wheelhouse every few years? or do they play cards for a ship?we all know what the rear Admirals do to pass the time !!! Wheres' our great Royal navy????? Food banks 300.000 people used them in the last two years in the U.K.

How about, 1 Admiral, and 24 Captains to allow for sickness and annual leave. The money saved would probably buy us a couple more ships, then we can start cutting down on the Commanders, Lt Commanders, and all the other orficers. Lets face it, with 19 ships, 90% of the RN must be desk bound or shore side permanently, so why do we need all these people when we have no ships.

Like everything else in this country of ours, the R.N. is top heavy with top brass and managers AKA the National Health.
Amongst those Admirals is one whose sole remit is to be in charge of the Royal Marine's Band!!!
would you believe that. Nearly met the guy when a relation of mine married his step daughter but managed to escape that duty as had to re-join my ship. Did have the wicked thought of if I happened to be going past where the ceremony was being performed ( A very well known and famous Naval Base I would ask the chief engineer to do a bit of soot blowing but sense prevailed. No really never got orders for that port so my wicked intentions came to nothing.

A few years ago we gave India 5 Billion Pounds, they went and bought a load of submarines off Russia.

Bring back the jail hulk ships, put them all (politicians) into them and let them look after themselves. In the so called dog eats dog world of politics we would see a welcome reduction in numbers after a few months, or days if Pressa is amongst the inmates
