    Default Bismarck /HMS Hood

It just goes to show even the big Royal Navy ships could be sunk look at the sinking of two of the navy s powerful ships the Repulse and the Prince of Wales ( Built in Cammel Lairds i saw the start of it getting built)but they did take a lot of sinking by the Japs.We got mixed up with a lot of these guys in thepow camp and i got to know alot of them .They use to tell us all about the action that sunk their ships

Massed aircraft attacks proved the day of the Battleship was over.

    Default Ted Briggs

I joined the RN after Bridlington NESWT - joined as a 'Sparker'. My first Divisional Officer at HMS Mercury in '59 was a certain Lt. Ted Briggs, one of only three survivors from the 'Hood' tragedy. A gentle man as I recall but sadly, crossed the bar a couple of years ago. Best wishes to all - Pete Jackson
