    sorry about the LATE REPLY... ONLY CAME ACROSS THIS POST DOING A CLEAN UP OF MY COMPUTER
    Long time sincer I saw the term "DIP" I did my first voyage on the Gascony as the "Dip" Captains Clerk
    I sailed on a number of RML ships Brittany, Essequibo etcx... Trained in Leadenhall Street with a Liverpool Lad Larry Urmiston he went to the Alcantara
    The training tutor there" an ex Purser" who called everyone John ....Captains George Meldrum... the outrageous Carlton Coke Dingle
    Best time of my life
