    Smile royal mail lines

    Did one trip on the Escalante, mar to may 65. took my steering Ticket that trip. hundreds of hours lol. Think this ship mainly run out of liverpool ?. Cheers, Colin. K.

    Smile Sister ship to ebro

    Hi

    The Escalante was a sister ship of the Ebro and the Eden, they used to call them the E-Boats mainly West Indies run, I sailed on the Ebro 1961/1962 as Lekky electrician.

    General cargo out to the Caribbean,mainly sugar back.
    All four ships named after Rivers in Spain.

    Post Essiquibo

    I did my first three trips to sea on Essiquibo as Junior Engineer 61/62
    Loved it! Learned a lot PDQ
    Left RML in 67 as Ch. Freezer - Deseado
    Anyone remember me?

    Hi I did a couple or trips on the Escalante ,it was my first ship and a real culture shock Jamica . We sailed from KG5 london.
    Captain Wingate in 1961 so long ago. Regards

    I was a.b. in the Essequibo back in 1961 dates where 13/7/61 9/10/61 we broke down in Casablanca for 10 days we had to discharge number 1 as we where taking water and it was turning our cargo of sugar to mollases .

    Was a Q.m. with then, Chief Officer Wingate .on the Andes. Brother to Wingate ,of Chindits Fame .

    A good Company to work for too ,I thought.
