My first trip to sea in Jan 1948 was the LOCH GARTH as Galley boy. Chf Cooks name was Cornwell I recall and he said his brother Boy Seaman Cornwell RN was awarded the VC for staying at his gun during a battle though wounded and his shipmates dead around him he kept the gun firing.

My next ship with them was Durango 1949 as A/S. Some shipmates were Fred Blossom from Hayes,George Mitchell from Mitcham and Curly from Liverpool. Great lads, are you still around surfing I wonder ?

The pld motor ship GASCONY was early 1950, West Indies run Engineers steward. Wooden cabin decks to scrub, no mops then........

DRINA next years later 1957 as Captains tiger. Usual West Indies & West coast of States & Canada trip and unusually discharged cargo in Bremen before paying off in London.
Colin Cinderby was a mate on her, transferred from catering to engine room crowd fireman or greaser. He lived near me in Ashford Middlesex Anyone heard of him since. Like me he later did trips in GSN ships

Would like to hear from anyone ,I know its a long shot, good luck
