    Default Shady Lady

    Hope link Works

Watched this movie last night, it is part documentary and part film, excellent.
The story starts after Darwin was bombed by the Japanese, and an audacious plan was put in place to bomb the Japanese refineries in Borneo.
The flight would test humans and the aircraft to the limits. The chosen planes was the B24 Liberator.
The story centres around the crew of the Shady Lady (bet you thought it was one of Cappy's concubines) and the flying conditions thy endured.
They bombed the oil refinery, heading home they ran into bad weather and got separated from the rest of the flight.
Attacked by Zero's one by one the guns failed, after an hour he Japs gave up. By this time the plane had only 3 hours of fuel left.
Radio was out, couldn't contact anyone.
Pilot put the plane down on a beach.
Aborigines watched the landing, recued the crew, who were returned their station.
The flight duration set a record of over 16hours. If you get the chance watch it.
    Regards
    Vic
PS it was on Movies for Men on Freeview.

On a recent wet Saturday afternoon being bored I found a film channel where the old black and white 1950s World War II films that turned out of Pinewood Studio and it was a real joy to watch them . I must admit that I did find it amusing to see the name of guy Gibson's dog
