Welcome
Missed a couple of other photos of the rocket installations, plus some interior shots. The aircraft remained on show in the NZ Warbirds hangar until the end of January 2019. It was then dismantled and shipped to the USA, where a team from AVSPECS re-assembled the aircraft again in April 2019. In July it flew from San Antonio, Texas, up to the Oshkosh Airshow in Wisconsin (I went to last years show), where it won 2 Golden Wrench Awards, Best WWII restoration, and the Phoenix Award (risen from the ashes!). Only problem on arrival at Oshkosh was a small fuel leak to be fixed. The photo of the hydraulic/pneumatic/fuel systems pipework in the bomb bay gives some idea of the quality the new owner gets for his $10 million! The next Mosquito off the production line is a bomber version with the Perspex nose section and higher-spec Merlins with 2-stage & 2-speed superchargers fitted. And Glyn Powells' own Mosquito is still heading slowly to completion. This airframe is currently advertised for sale, but a UK Mosquito group are also interested in it, the only problem being raising the finance to purchase.
