Hello!
Hi everyone! Very good site lots...of interesting stuff. 
I've got a quick question for you please, If I may........Cut a very long story short, I,ve recently found out that my great Uncle, Ronald Collins was a Deck Boy in November 1940. He was on B.H.C 10 Blyth when sadly his barge/tug was sunk approx 8 miles off of Start Point by 3 German Destroyers, I believe. He was only 17 at the time and lost his life at sea along with two others I think. Basically I'm trying to find out as much as I am able. I've seen there is a memorial at Tower Hill , London.
I'm interested in things like what he would have been doing, or what they were transporting, and from where to where, would they have been escorted? etc. ...stuff like that. I've served 20 years in the Royal Navy and lost count how many times I've gone over the wreck site whilst on ships.......I wish I knew ages ago.
Anyway, I'm waffling on. Any info or advice where to look would be so appreciated and I thank you in advance. Cheers!

Does BHC stand for Blyth harbour Commission ? There is a member on site from Blyth who if sights your request may have further insight into any plaques or memorials in that fair city, or town as believe to be a city in uk have to have a Cathedral and can never remember if Blyth had one or not. Besides the Memorial there seems to be more info at the Deaths at Sea Site, which is a paid site.
I have therefore just made a Snip of the site to show that there is info on there! It may help you.

Ref. My #2 . I have 2 namesakes J.W. Sabourn one killed in think it was Flanders in WWI , and my Uncle Jack killed in WW 2 in Singapore. The first one on a memorial outside the church on the seafront in Tynemouth and the second at the Cenotaph on the Links at Whitley Bay. When I mention Blyth a person with local knowledge could be the person to help you. My family on the maternal side of my father were from Blyth but I have very limited knowledge as was a Sabourn , the maternal name were Chandlers . More if what I was told into sailing ships and the likes of the Windjammers, the Sabourns more into the fishing industry . But rememberance plaques are a good source of info.if you know where to look. Cheers JS
