Re: Hello
Hello Marian, please excuse my inexperience with chat groups for not responding earlier for the invaluable information you provided about my father's death location. I did not see the second posting of the death registery until Hugh made a mention of it to me.
I hope everyone appreciates everyone's contribution to this site and moves on back to things as they were before this thread.
Please forgive any improper terminology.
cheers

I am happy to continue helping on the forum as long as everyone can comment freely within the rules and enjoy the site for what it is. I am not offended in anyway but I won't give my time, which also benefits this forum, for my content [which nobody can suggest broke any rules] to be censored as if I didn't write it. With hindsight, I should perhaps have just answered the question but other questions were also being discussed [about speed, distance, time] again, all relevant to your original question. Members have a right to comment if they wish on all aspects of another members reply. Other people's inputs can actually help others to understand, not everyone is a seafarer on here. So side discussions do go on and they should be tolerated unless way off topic. A discussion about the speed in knots is not off topic and it should not have been shut down in the manner that it was. Anyway, enjoy it here it is a good forum most of the time.
Regards
Hugh
Hey Hugh, absolutely nothing to apologise for.
I feel very fortunate Marian and yourself, amongst others, took the time not only to respond but to actually provide copies of documents and contact info.
Never in my wildest idreams would I have imagined getting to this point in my querst so quickly.
What sarted out as a daunting quest for someone in Canada, so far away from merchant navy affairs, turned into an overnight resolution thanks to this groups generous contributions.
cheers

Re: Hello
Hello Alfred
May i put forward my Apology for these off Topic happenings.
Unfortunately at times Threads will be a bit spoilt by this sort of thing.
But the main issue is that you have received plenty of good response and help. I am glad that at least it got results!
I am sure if you need any more info, there will be those again that will assist where they can!
Thank You for joining the site!
Continue to Enjoy!

Re: Hello
I wish to thank you you all for your interest and generosity in my search.
Marian provided the first important piece of information, thank you Marian
Hugh, god bless him, recommended contact with Maritime Archives here in Canada where in fact the 1952, 1953 logs of the SS Largs Bay are stored. Thanks Hugh
I was fortunate enough to receive all the records related to my father's last voyage including the time and location when his body was committed to the sea - 05.00 October 11, 1952 14,41N 42,17E
Regrettably this area is currently in turmoil due to attacks on shipping vessels and one wounders if or when it will be stable enough to venture a visit.
I wish you all the best of Chritmases, I know you made mine.
Cheers
