    Default Cableship Faraday 147458

Hello. I am new to the Forum.
I am researching a merchant seaman who I believe served on the Faraday. It was bombed on 26 March 1941 off St Annes Head, south Wales. 8 men were killed in the attack. Their names are recorded on the Tower Hill memorial. The ship sank the following day. My Hocking book says that a total of 16 men were lost but I cannot find the 'missing' 8 men.
Is it likely that some of the injured died later on land? or is there some other explanation?
    Thank you
    Tony

    Hello and Welcome Thomas,

Hocking, I would suspect, based his information on the Master's report to the Admiratly Trade Division. Captain H.T. Teale stated the complement was 130 in which 8 were killed and 8 missing.
Lloyd's War Losses Vol I states 8 were killed. The Deaths at Sea Register also names 8 men killed and the CWGC have commemorated 8 people. I suspect Hocking is incorrect in this case.

    Regards
    Hugh
