    Default ss halo

Does anyone have any information on how the SS halo sank.? My grandad Michael McDonald died when she went down. He was an AB and lamp trimmer. Any information gratefully received.

Hallo Shena. Can you clarify if possible the Halo. I have 3 casualties on file. One is very old, occurring in 1884. The second is a US steam tanker lost in 1942,and the 3rd is a British cargo ship lost after being torpedoed in Jan 45-but there were no crew losses on that one. Can you clarify?

Michael McDonald from the Isle of Barra was killed on 21.3.1941 along with 3 other shipmates aboard the ss HALO official number 143426 built in 1919, Port of Registry, London. The ship hit a mine on the River Thames off Beckton pier. She was later refloated and beached at Woolwich.
