Searching for info on Ancestor - Hannibal Harvey 1833
My ancestor, Hannibal Harvey, (brother to my GG grandfather) apparently enlisted in the Merchant Navy to do military service in 1855 when he was 22 years old. He lived in Cornwall. He also appears as Hanibal and H Harvey in some documents.
I have some info - but don't know how to interpret it. When I can work out how to attach images, (files fail to upload) I will update the post. Suffice to say he apparently served on Eliza Ann, Ailsa Cgo (Craig?) & Quebec. At least, that's what I think it says.
If someone can determine that he did serve in the British Merchant Navy would be a start. Then to work out how long, what ships and when he concluded his time with BMN would be very helpful.
