Re: Can anyone tell me how to find my Dads ship
Hello Derek,
If you use the discharge A number shown on the findmypast form you will be able to search the National Archives site to see if anything comes up. You can also use his name. That's well worth the effort.
The Discharge A number is R 66383. Good luck. Another record has the official number of a ship. 148130. The name of that ship can be found on the clip website https://www.crewlist.org.uk/
The national archives has lots of early crew lists, filed by official ship number, and you can trace your ancestor back from latest to earliest. (not the other way round)

Thank you for the information
I tried that last night and I put the discharge number and name but it said no records found. I find that site hard to navigate but will keep trying

Re: Can anyone tell me how to find my Dads ship
Yes all info welcome , but if only others woud read the Posts first , as all that info has already been given. To Search the Archives on that Number will not get any results, as it would be one that is more than likely kept in its Original form in Southampton as i have stated! I am sure Derek has all the info he now needs to get something going!
Cheers and Thanks

Hi Derek
Well i do hope that some good will come out of all this, and that you will get most of what you wanted! Its sometimes heart breaking when there is not much info in the Files, but who knows! Good Luck.

Re: Can anyone tell me how to find my Dads ship
Hi Doc
Finally heard from Southampton unfortunately seems a dead end.
They suggest contacting another site which I have tried several times to no avail.
I thank you all so very much once again but it looks like my search is at an end.
