Pacific volcano
Back in the 70's sailing on New Zealand Shipping Company's Rangitoto from UK to New Zealand. After leaving Panama we were sailing south west and the Captain took the ship to an extinct volcano/island and we were able to sail in to the crater. I did not get to see much as I was on watch in the engine room and we never took that route again while I was on the ship. I have searched many times to find it but with no luck. Would any of you fine mariners have see it or know where it is?

Only Extinct Volcano i know of is in Peru in the Pacific Ocean called Hauscaran. But doubt if that would be it???
Then there is the Kyushu Palu Ridge in the Western North Pacific Ocean

There are dozens of extinct volcanoes in the South and North pacific
Most of the islands are made of them, many eventually sink below the sea
The only Volcano I have sailed into its Caldera, is Deception Island in Antarctica, the sea is so warm we could swim in it.
I have done most Pacific Islands, every year for over 20 years I have sailed around the South Pacific Islands, and have not seen one volcano you can sail into.
