    Default What ships please

Hi Thank you for allowing me to join this forum
I have sent off for my fathers seamens pouch from the national archives and received this week his records,
However they only sent his enlistment and discharge from the merchant navy
As he like many others he never mentioned his service, how can I find what ships he served on and what voyage please
    Hoping someone can advise

    regards

    George

    Hello George B
Can we start by uploading what you have received, Also his Full name Date and place f Birth, this will give me something to go on.
If his Seamans Pouch did not have a list of his Ships ?? Unusual then we need his CRS10 or CR10 depending on when he was in the Merchant Navy. Either of those will have his full Service Records.
    Will await your reply

There is a Research Guide link on this site, which will tell you everything you need to know and where to find the records records you require. To many times people rely on Seaman's Pouches in BT372, which list very little information on an individuals service if any at all. CRS-10 guide will tell you where to look.

Have sent you a PM Reply George
    Cheers
Although they may have included that Ref of CRS10 if you did not actuallt apply for it, then they would have not sent any Document info.
You should go here to apply for his CRS10 and when applying qoute his Seamans Pouch Ref as wel, plus any other info you have been given.

    Hi George
Well hopefully after the info i have sent you in PM things will pan out better.
As said the Archives sent you the incorrect Files , as that Disc Number is not correct, i have now located his Seamans Pouch which i sent you.
When applying dont forget to include his Seamans Pouch Ref with the CRS10 application, and any other info and details .
They should get back to you with a Cost Email.
    Cheers

There are as i see No Medals Listed , but then could be an error with the Archives, so once you have the CRS10 hopefully along with all his Service details ,should include if he was awarded an Medals???
    Cheers

I do notice though George that you had at first Posted the correct Dish Number, here so dont know why the Archives sent you other info?? Was it perhaps an Error you made?
    Cheers

    Hi Doc

    Thank you for the reply
just going back over the information I think I must have input a wrong number in, you are right the first request was correct,
I will now request from National Archives with the correct information which you so kindly supplied, Hopefully fingers crossed we get the correct answers this time , as they are all working from home with the Covid restrictions it could take a couple of weeks but will keep you informed ,

    Thank you again

    Kind Regards

    George
