Lightbulb Ship photos 1940 - 1965 ....ideas for their use!

    Hi All,

As a young lad in the 1960’s I was fascinated by ships, and living near Southend on the Thames Estuary, there were always ships anchored off, waiting to head up river into the London docks.

Before going to sea (with Ellerman Lines) in 1966 I had amassed a total of over 400 postcard size ship photos which until recently (July 2020) I thought I had lost.

However, they have been found and my question is what could I do with them? Obviously, they have many happy memories for me, but as I get older, and nobody in my family is interested in having them when I’ve curled my toes up, I am looking for ideas as how they could be used. They are mainly of British ships, but not exclusively and I would be happy to create a list of all the ships I have photo of, if this would be useful.

All ideas will be considered – I just don’t want to put them away again and forget them.

you could upload them to the site yourself and have them in your own folder.

    Hi Mike,
Thanks for that idea. Would I be correct in thinking that to do that I would need to scan each one first? I'm not overly techie on these matters but can find my way around if it's fairly obvious.
Further, I would need guidance with regards setting up a folder. If I did this, would others have the ability to see the photos? I would like to think that if I had a photo that somebody else would like a copy of, they could.... if you see what I mean?

    Hello Peter
As Mike is the Gallery Supervisor i will leave it to him to assist you in the Upload Procedure ,unless he wants me to assist as well?
So will await his response and take it from there.
I am sure the Pictures will add a lot of interest here on site, once they are all added to an Album.
    Thanks
    Cheers
