Records of Woolwich Arsenal
Hi
One of our ancestors was William Langham. He was a member of the British Merchant Navy and was a carpenter, believed to be engaged in ship building. He was based at Woolwich Arsenal in the mid 1800s. Does anybody know whether records of such personel exist and, if so, where can I find them please?

Re: Records of Woolwich Arsenal
Marion, you live in Eltham.
there is, or at least was at one time, a library there they may be able to direct you to the best place to start.
Would suggest if you have any details you should try the national records office now in Kew I think.
there you may find old census copies which if you know where he lived would show his occupation.
You are not far from Woolwich, why not try the library there.
Happy daze John in Oz.
